This type of printing frame has several uses. One of them being a tool to make contact prints, from large format photo negatives.

Another use for the frame, can be to make Lumen prints.

Purpose for the frame:
It’s used to hold photographic paper and negatives tightly together so that when exposed to light, the image from the negative is transferred directly onto the paper. This is done at 1:1 scale. Meaning the size of the print is exactly the same as the negative.

Key Features:
Glass top: Keeps the negative flat and ensures good contact with the paper.

Hinged & clamped back: allows to easily place the negative and paper inside keeping them pressed together.

Light-tight backing: Helps ensure only the intended light exposure reaches the paper.

Spring or pressure: Applies even pressure across the whole surface.
